Massey Ferguson MF 240 models came into South Africa In the 1980"s
as the successor to the MF 135. Similar to the 135 however with many improvements. Standard with an eight speed gearbox and MK111 hydraulic system, the three point linkage was upgraded to a more robust system with heavier lower links ans stabiliser chains. The hydraulics had a much improved pressure and output.
The older type oil bath air cleaner was relaced with a cartridge type air cleaner.
